1:35 Octopus from Black Dog is an octopus in 1:35 scale intended as a bold element of underwater modeling scenes.
Responsibility details are not available.
An octopus in 1:35 scale for underwater displays. A diver figure was made in the same scale by the same manufacturer as well, so the two items can be joined into a single scene, in which the octopus has the role of an opponent and of an ornament alike. In military modeling an organic shape is a rarity, and that is exactly why the eye lingers on a scene like that.
The best place is a wreck, an anchor, a sunken crate or a rock niche, that is something it can wind itself around. At the same time it serves as an excellent tool of composition: it leads the eye across the scene and fills empty corners without adding another human figure. Place it so that at least part of the arms points toward the main element of the scene; the viewer then arrives at the essential thing himself.
The skin of cephalopods changes color, so it pays to layer glazes; brick red, ocher and purple over a lighter base give a livelier result than a single opaque shade. Bring the suckers out with a lighter tone and leave them more matte than their surroundings. Unify the whole at the end with gloss varnish, because without the sheen the creature looks dry and the scene falls apart. Between the individual glazes always let the paint dry, otherwise the shades will run together into a uniform brown.
