A decal set from the Star Decals brand in 1:35 scale. Unlike the items of the same range that mix several types of vehicle, this one keeps to a single machine. According to the name it covers the Warrior infantry fighting vehicle in the occupation phase of the British deployment in Iraq, that is in the period that followed the invasion. The contents are printed markings for a finished model.
With the British mechanized battalions the Warrior was the main tracked infantry fighting vehicle. It was built for an encounter with a regular army, but in Iraq, after the main fighting ended, the nature of the task changed. In place of an advance in formation came patrols in the cities, convoy escorts and a constant presence in an inhabited area, which the vehicle was not originally designed for. That gradually showed in its appearance as well. Over the years add-on armor and further modifications based on particular experience appeared on the machines, so a Warrior from the later period looks noticeably different from the same type in the spring of 2003. For a modeler that means the right markings and the right configuration of the vehicle go hand in hand.
Before you start on the markings, think the configuration of the model through, because add-on covers and frames change the available areas. Apply the markings before you fit the accessories that would block access to them. Unify the base with gloss varnish, use a softener once they are seated and go over the finished vehicle with a matte varnish. Add the dust and the traces of use only above locked-in markings. The manufacturer gives the particular directions on the packaging.
