An ornamental grille in 1:35 scale for building dioramas, supplied as a separate scenic item.
Responsibility details are not available.
Ornamental grillework appeared wherever the builder needed to divide space and still let people see through: at entrances to courtyards, on garden walls, in ground-floor windows and as an infill in railings. On a diorama a grille therefore works as a quick shortcut to a period and a setting. The item is made in 1:35 scale, the scale in which most military scenes with figures and vehicles are built.
It is not a kit or a part for one particular model but a separate scenic item that you place in a scene to your own plan. The range offers several different grillework patterns, so they can be combined even on a single base. Details of the material and the recommended glue are given on the box.
Wash the part in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent first and let it dry thoroughly, otherwise the paint may not take. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the edge and sand the remainder with fine abrasive paper; the thin bars of the grillework are the most vulnerable spot, so work from the edge and without pressure. In painting, a dark base works well, then a light pass with a dry brush so that the edges come up, and finally targeted layers of rust in the places where it would leave a trace on a real grille too. Sink the item into the groundwork only once the terrain around it is finished.
It will be appreciated by modelers who build urban, industrial or rural scenes in 1:35 scale and want to fill them out with an architectural detail. The paints, glue, terrain materials and base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
