A turned barrel with breech for the 7.5 cm PaK 40 anti-tank gun in 1:35 scale in the version with the early muzzle brake. A replacement part for a kit, not a model in its own right.

The set is not a kit of the gun but a replacement part. Besides the barrel itself it contains, according to the name, the breech as well, so you replace the whole most conspicuous part of the weapon with one accurate assembly. The turned barrel holds a circular cross section along its whole length, has a cleanly finished muzzle and does away with sanding out the mold seam, which on an injection-molded part always takes something away from the shape.
What sets this version apart: it carries the early type of muzzle brake. The manufacturer also makes a version with the mid muzzle brake, so choose according to the particular weapon you are building.
The PaK 40 was a German anti-tank gun of 75 mm caliber from the Second World War. It was used both in towed form on the splayed trail legs of its carriage and as the armament of a number of self-propelled chassis. The shape of the muzzle brake changed during production, which today is one of the main clues for a modeler when dating a particular example from a period photograph.
Try the part dry in the cradle of the carriage first and deal with any difference by reworking the plastic, not the barrel. Degrease the surface and spray it with a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold. On a towed weapon it pays to set the surface of the barrel apart from the rest of the carriage with a fine difference in shade and a light graphite sheen; pick out the muzzle with a dark shade and add fine dusting around it.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
