1:48 Westland Sea King HAS.1 LooK from the Czech manufacturer Eduard is a resin add-on set for a model of the Sea King anti-submarine helicopter in the original HAS.1 version.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is a resin add-on set of the LööK line from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, not a helicopter kit. The LööK line is built around a resin instrument panel that replaces the basic version and visibly lifts the cockpit, because in the glazed cockpits of helicopters the instrument panel is clearly visible. The subject is the Westland Sea King in the HAS.1 version in 1:48 scale.
The Westland Sea King is the British licensed version of the American Sikorsky S-61, which Westland reworked markedly for the needs of the Royal Navy, above all by fitting Rolls-Royce Gnome turboshaft engines. The HAS.1 was the first production anti-submarine variant, which entered service at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s. Its task was searching out and destroying submarines, for which it carried a dipping sonar, a search radar and armament of its own. The roomy fuselage made it possible to carry a complete sensor crew, so the machine could operate independently and for a long time. The Sea King became one of the most enduring types of its category and served in many countries for whole decades.
The instrument panel is fitted into the cockpit before the fuselage is closed, so it is a good idea to make a dry test in good time. In color it is worth evening out the surrounding interior, so that the new part does not come across as separate. The glazing of a helicopter cockpit is extensive, so it pays to bring out the edges and the controls that will be clearly visible once the build is done.
