A set of decals for the cabin of a model of the Panavia Tornado GR.1. It is prepared for kits from the Italeri company. The cockpit is the place everyone who looks at a model from close up looks at, and yet out of the box it tends to be solved only with suggested relief. The decals complete the instrument panels and the side panels without your having to paint the individual dials with a brush.

The real subject

The Panavia Tornado came about as a joint European program of Great Britain, Germany and Italy. It is a two-seat combat aircraft with a variable-geometry wing, which opens out in flight for takeoff and approach and is drawn in toward the fuselage for fast flight at low altitude. The crew sits in tandem one behind the other, the pilot in front, the navigator behind operating the systems for attacking ground targets. The designation GR.1 was carried by the strike version of the Royal Air Force.

How to work with the elements

• First paint the cabin and let it dry properly; the elements belong on a finished base.
• Moisten only the carrier paper, with a damp sponge with a drop of detergent; do not immerse the element itself in water.
• Lift the released element with tweezers and fix it with PVA, that is white glue; the maker does not recommend cyanoacrylate glue.
• Do not use decal softener, as it would damage the printed layer of the element; press a settled element down with a soft brush or a cotton swab, not with a fingernail.
• Fit the seats and the frames of the cabin only after the panels are finished, otherwise they are not reachable.

For a builder of the large Tornado who wants the cabin legible even under an open canopy. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
