The Eduard Schürzen for the Panther Ausf. D photo-etched set in 1:35 scale brings the side armor skirts and their hangers. It is not a model but a detail accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched set of side armor skirts (Schürzen) from the Czech maker Eduard for the German Panther medium tank in the Ausf. D version in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit but a detail accessory. The etched sheets replace the thicker and less faithful plastic parts and capture the thin gauge of the period skirts far better, including their hanger rails.
Schürzen were thin armor skirts hung along the sides of the hull, meant to set off shaped-charge and anti-tank projectiles before they reached the main armor. They were used on a range of German vehicles of the Second World War. The Panther Ausf. D was the first production version of this tank, committed from 1943 onward.
Separate the photo-etched parts from the fret and make the bends on a bending tool or along a ruler. The skirts look realistic if you suggest slight dents or missing sections on them, which was common in the field. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue and degrease the surfaces before painting. The set is bare metal, so count on a primer coat.
The accessory does not contain the model itself, the glue or the paints. It is meant to complete an existing kit.
