A masonry base wall carrying a fence lined parks, the gardens of villas and the courtyards of public buildings. For a modeler it is a rewarding element: it closes the edge of a scene off naturally, separates two different settings and offers a combination of two surfaces, brickwork and fence, in one short run.
The elements of a park wall with a fence in 1:35 scale, meant to be set into a diorama. The length of the run, the number of parts and the dimensions are given by the manufacturer on the packaging of the set.
Try the layout out dry first, so that you know how much room the wall will take up on the base and where it will run. Wash the surface before painting and let it dry. Cut away excess material and traces of manufacture with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the area. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts and degrease the glued surface beforehand. Brickwork comes out with a base shade, a dark wash into the joints and lightened edges, while the fence deserves a shade of its own and slight traces of wear. At the foot of the wall, grass, leaves and a little soil help so that the wall does not look as though it has merely been stood on a surface.
For builders of dioramas in 1:35 scale who want to give a scene a clear boundary, and for modelers putting together a city or suburban setting without modeling brickwork themselves. It goes well with other elements of building in the same scale.
