Eduard 1:35 PBR 31 Mk. II Pibber photo-etched set

A photo-etched metal detail set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:35 scale, intended to improve a plastic model of the American PBR 31 Mk. II river patrol boat (Patrol Boat, River). The set adds fine parts that injection-molded plastic cannot capture: gratings, handrails, fittings, details of the weapon stations and of the deck equipment.

The real subject

The PBR (Patrol Boat, River), nicknamed the Pibber, was a small fiberglass patrol boat with waterjet propulsion. The US Navy deployed it widely in the Mekong Delta and on the rivers during the Vietnam War for patrolling, boat searches and quick raids. The Mk. II version had improved waterjets and revised armament.

Use and tips

• The parts are broken out of the fret and bent on a bending tool or with a ruler and a blade.
• They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, or with epoxy.
• Degrease the metal parts before painting and use a primer so that the paint adheres well.
