This item is one of the scenic accessories, not one of the kits of vehicles. Valves and fittings are what set a real run apart from a mere tube. As soon as shut-offs with a handwheel, flanges and branches appear on pipework, a scene starts to look like works somebody operated rather than a decoration made up of profiles.
It comes into its own anywhere a scene contains technology, indoors and in the open.
A run is always a story about where something flows from and to. So place the valves where they would have a logic: on branches, before an appliance and at a connection to a tank. Turn the handwheels so that an operator could reach them, because a valve facing a wall is one of the most common small mistakes in dioramas. On damaged works it pays to leave one wheel out or set it at an angle, because exactly such a detail tells the viewer that the works stood idle and were neglected.
