This is not a tank model but a set of replacement parts. It holds the barrel of the 37 mm Bofors gun for the single-turret version of the Polish 7TP light tank and a signal horn. The accessory is made by the Polish brand MASTER, which concentrates on turned metal gun barrels and small tubular parts. The accessory is fitted to the IBG kit; that kit is not in the package.
The gun barrel is the most exposed feature on a tank, and a plastic part carries several disadvantages on it. It is made from two halves, so a parting seam runs along its whole length that has to be sanded away without losing the cylindrical shape. The muzzle tends to be blind or only suggested, and the diameter often drifts slightly toward the muzzle. A turned metal part, by contrast, is perfectly straight, has a concentric and cleanly drilled bore and a crisply finished muzzle. Metal also holds its shape: a thin barrel does not warp in the heat and will take ordinary handling of a finished model in a display case. A crisp muzzle with a bore is a detail that anyone notices on finished work at first glance.
Cut the plastic barrel off as close to the turret as possible and level the hole with a drill or a round file so that the metal part sits concentrically. Degrease the metal before gluing and bond it with super glue; ordinary cement for plastic will not hold on it. Before painting, lay a well adhering primer on the metal surface, or even a light touch will wipe the finish off smooth metal. Finally darken the muzzle and the bore so that the opening looks deep.
The package holds only the parts listed. The kit, glue and paints are not part of it.
