The third version of wall and floor tiles from the range of printed RT-Diorama accessories for 1:35 scale. It is a flat subject for the surfaces of an interior, not a kit. The accessory counts as part of the equipment of a scene you already have built, and it settles the part of the work that usually has the least time left for it when a building is being put up.

An interior that is only partly visible

The commonest diorama scene with an exposed interior is a damaged building: a wall is missing, the ceiling is broken through and the inside can be seen from the street. That is just where the surface of the floor comes into its own most, because it makes the contrast between what used to be neat and what is left of the scene. A continuous drawing of tiling also helps the viewer to imagine the part of the room that is no longer on the diorama.

Tips for working with the scene

• Leave part of the area covered with debris and fragments; a continuous clean surface does not come across believably in a ruin.
• Run the transition into the rubble irregularly; a straight edge gives away an artificial dividing line.
• A darker deposit in the corners of a room brings out the space and separates the floor from the walls.
• Lay the dust from the masonry down away from the place of the damage, not evenly over the whole area.
• Do the unifying of color with the surrounding terrain right at the end, or the scene will look glued together out of parts.
