An add-on set cast in resin, meant for swapping the wheels on a kit of the Chevrolet Quad 4x4 tractor. The name gives the tire size 10.5x20, the universal General Purpose tread and Dunlop as the maker of the tire; that is exactly how the set is chosen, because the same vehicle is also sold in the same scale with an off-road pattern.
General Purpose has a finer and more regular pattern than a coarse off-road tread. On a model it suits a vehicle built in a cleaner, road or rear-area form, or where you want the wheel not to overpower the rest of the model. The difference is clearly visible on the tread as well as in the profile of the tire shoulder, so it pays to decide before you start on the whole running gear.
Wash the castings in soapy water so that no mold release agent stays on them. On wheels the casting block tends to run along the contact face: cut it off and true the area on abrasive paper on glass, otherwise the wheel will stand crooked on the model. Sand wet. Make the joints with super glue, as plastic cement does not work here. Painting is easier part by part: a primer, the rubber in dark gray with a hint of brown, the hub in the color of the vehicle. The fine tread comes out well if you go over it lightly with a dry brush in a lighter tone once it is dry, which brings out the pattern of the tread as well as any lettering on the sidewall suggested in the casting.
The set is an accessory, not a standalone model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and a base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
