Wheels for the RG-31 MRAP armored car in 1:35 scale from PANZER ART are a resin replacement for the wheels on a finished model, not a kit of the vehicle.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin set of wheels in 1:35 scale for the RG-31 mine-resistant armored car. The set is not a model of the vehicle, it is an exchange of wheels on a kit already built. The manufacturer also makes a separate set for the later Mk5 version, which has running gear of its own, so these are two different goods.
The RG-31 is a mine-resistant armored car of South African origin, built with a characteristic angled lower hull that deflects the blast away from the crew. The vehicle stands on off-road tires of large diameter and its high profile makes the wheels one of the first features a viewer of the model notices. The differences between the individual versions show precisely on the chassis and the wheels, so choosing the right set matters for the fidelity of a model.
Wash the castings in warm water with dish soap, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the mating surfaces. Before gluing with super glue, stand the model on a flat board and check that all the wheels touch the base, as otherwise the vehicle will visibly limp in the display case. On painting: make the tire a very dark gray with a brown cast instead of pure black, go over the edges of the tread with a dry brush and add dust pigment in the grooves. On vehicles of this type the discs tend to be in the shade of the body, so set them apart with a masking circle. Apply the dust from below and lightly, as modern vehicles tend to be maintained and an exaggerated finish takes away their credibility.
This is a resin accessory, not a complete kit. The wheels are supplied unpainted; paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
