This set from Voyager Model is a basic brass photo-etched detail set for a model of the Soviet KV-5 (Object 225) heavy tank in 1:35 scale. It holds fine photo-etched parts for the most visible areas of the model, including grilles, fenders, brackets and small detail. It is not a kit of the tank but an accessory for a base model.
The KV-5 (Object 225) was a Soviet design project for a heavy, indeed superheavy tank of the Second World War. It was a design study for an exceptionally large vehicle that never got as far as a working machine and remained on paper. Models of this type are based on period drawings and reconstructions of the design.
Separate the photo-etched parts from the fret with a sharp knife, make the bends over a bending tool or a metal ruler and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue, or with two-part epoxy. Degrease the parts before painting and lay down a primer for metal surfaces; it is best to spray the paint with an airbrush so that the fine detail does not get flooded. Fill the gap between the photo-etched part and the plastic with filler.
This is an add-on photo-etched set, not a complete model. The Takom 2006 base kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
