The separate Russian Special Forces Artillery Spotter figure represents an artillery spotter of the special forces, resin, 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A separate figure cast in resin, supplied unpainted and unassembled. In the range of individual soldiers from RPG Model it stands for a role that turns up in dioramas only rarely, although it decides the effect of the whole fire support.
The spotter moves with the forward groups and his task is to find a target, fix its position and pass it to the battery in the rear. His key equipment is therefore not weapons but optics, a rangefinder and communications gear; in recent years observation from unmanned aerial vehicles has been added, showing the spotter the fall of shot in real time. The figure is thus usually shown crouched behind cover, with the instrument at his eyes, and in a model scene it gives the composition a direction, because the viewer involuntarily follows where he is looking.
It pays most to concentrate on the optics. A lens painted a dark blue or brown and then covered with a drop of gloss varnish looks like glass to the eye. Small buckles and buttons come out when a very thin dark color is drawn around them and the excess is lifted away at once with a brush.
The set comes without paints; finishing it is entirely up to the modeler.
