The Russian Special Forces Fire Supporter figure is a resin casting of a fire support soldier in 1:35 scale from the RPG Model brand.
Responsibility details are not available.
A separate casting of one soldier, meant to be finished by the modeler. The material is casting resin, which unlike injection-molded plastic will hold even very fine folds of cloth and the texture of webbing, but which calls for a different way of preparing it.
While the assault man deals with immediate contact, the fire support soldier keeps the enemy pinned down so that the rest of the group can move. He therefore carries a heavier weapon with a large supply of ammunition and can usually be told by his bulky webbing. In Russian practice this task falls to the member of the squad equipped with a machine gun or an automatic weapon with a drum magazine, and his position is chosen so that it overlooks the whole width of the area. In a diorama a figure like this works best tucked behind cover or leaning against the side of a vehicle.
The weapon comes out well when a dark base is gone over with a dry brush carrying a little of a graphite shade, only along the edges and the moving parts. Overdone polishing of metal looks toy-like. Leave the webbing and the fabric parts matte, by contrast; the contrast between matte cloth and a slightly glossy weapon gives the casting depth without a single wash.
It is sold as an unworked casting; your own materials are needed to finish it.
