1:35 Russian TOR M2 / SA-15 Gauntlet Missile System is a photo-etched set from Eduard for refining the details of a model of the self-propelled anti-aircraft system.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set from Eduard contains photo-etched metal parts for a model of the TOR M2 self-propelled anti-aircraft missile system, known in Western reporting names as the SA-15 Gauntlet, in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit or a set of masks: these are thin photo-etched parts that on a model replace elements which cannot be molded finely enough in plastic. Check before buying that the set matches the model you are building.
The TOR M2 is a self-propelled anti-aircraft missile system on a tracked chassis that carries the radar and the launcher on one vehicle and is intended to protect units against weapons attacking from low altitude. The superstructure is broken up, with a number of grilles, loops and covers, that is exactly the kind of element where molded plastic in 1:35 scale reaches the limit of its possibilities.
Cut the photo-etched parts off the fret on a hard surface with a sharp scalpel, not with nippers, which will bend the metal. Make the bends using a bending tool or at least two razor blades pressed against the scored line, and start with the finest parts while your hand is still rested. They are glued with a minimal amount of cyanoacrylate glue, ideally applied with the tip of a wire. Degrease the metal before painting and use a base coat suitable for metal surfaces, otherwise the paint cracks. Try the parts that replace plastic elements dry first: in many places the original detail has to be sanded off beforehand.
The set is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
