This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter captures the Soviet truck tractor Zil-131V towing the transporter PR-11 with the anti-aircraft missile SA-2 Guideline (the S-75 system). It is a complete combination ideal for a diorama – you build the vehicle, the trailer transporter and the missile from one package. The model is built from individual parts and is intended to be glued and painted.
The Zil-131 is a Soviet off-road truck with 6x6 drive, introduced into service in the 1960s; the army version served in many roles including a tractor and a carrier of special bodies. The PR-11 transporter served for transporting and handling the anti-aircraft missile SA-2 Guideline (in Soviet designation part of the S-75 system) – one of the most widespread anti-aircraft missiles of the Cold War, deployed in a number of conflicts around the world. The combination of tractor, transporter and missile represents a typical ground logistics link of missile anti-aircraft units.
On military equipment, assemble and paint the running gear, the chassis and the interior of the cab before you close the bed and the body. Use liquid cement on the plastic and attach the clear window parts with cement for transparent plastics. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush. Weathering adds to the effect: dark washes into the recesses, dust and mud pigments on the chassis and the wheels. We recommend painting the long body of the missile and the transporter separately and gluing them together only after the finish is on.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
