This set of Star Decals markings in 1:35 scale is tied to the fighting for Saipan in 1944. The package brings decals for finished models, not plastic parts or whole kits.
The fight for the island of Saipan in the Mariana Islands ran through June and July 1944 and meant a fundamental step across the Pacific for the American forces. The name of the set gives four types of machine that took part in it: the DUKW amphibious truck, able to drive from a ship straight onto the beach; the M4A2 Sherman medium tank with diesel propulsion used by the Marines; the M3A1 Satan flamethrower vehicle built on a light tank; and the LVT(A)-1 amphibious tracked vehicle with a turret, which supported the landing waves with its fire.
Amphibious equipment worked in salt water and in coral sand, so a model of this scene will almost always get a pronounced surface. Apply the markings before you start building up the wear, the salt and the deposits, then, otherwise a decal will come across as a sticker laid on top of the dirt. On vehicles with a coarsely broken side, choose the flattest area you can and level the base with a gloss varnish. Leave the lower edges of the hull for the end.
