An injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet SA-2 surface-to-air guided missile (the S-75 system) on its launcher with a loading cabin, in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The kit captures the missile itself, the traversing launcher and the loading (transport) module; the launch rail traverses on its base. It offers several marking options. The exact number of parts is given in the enclosed instructions.
The SA-2, in Soviet designation the S-75 Dvina system and in the West Guideline, was a medium to long-range surface-to-air missile system developed in the 1950s to destroy aircraft at high altitude. The two-stage missile with its large booster became one of the most widespread anti-aircraft weapons of the Cold War and is famous above all for its use in Vietnam and in the Middle East. The loading cabin served to transport and load the next missile onto the rail.
With a missile system it pays to assemble and paint the launcher and the base before the body of the missile is fitted. Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting and spray the paint with an airbrush in thin coats. The white body of the missile will reward a careful primer and fine shading; fine-tune the weathering of the chassis and the rail with washes and pigments. The group stands out in a diorama with a crew and equipment.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
