This is a resin detail set, not a model. The heavy set contains extensive castings of sandbags shaped for the nose, the sides and the superstructure of the Israeli armored personnel carrier M113. Crews of the Israel Defense Forces raised protection against anti-tank rockets and booby traps in this way. The castings faithfully capture both the packed bags and the way they were fastened.
The M113 is an American aluminum armored personnel carrier that became one of the most widespread tracked vehicles in the world. The Israeli army used it in large numbers and, in urban combat and in the Gaza Strip, supplemented it with improvised and with add-on armor, of which sandbags were part.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, cut the casting blocks away and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Given the extent of the set, take care that it seats correctly on the hull. The bags stand out with sand shades, a dry brush and dust pigments.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
