An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy armored reconnaissance vehicle Sd.Kfz.232 (6-Rad) in 1:35 scale from Italeri. It is a classic injection-molded tooling with fine engraving and a decal sheet for several marking options. The six-wheel version is the early variant of the heavy Panzerspähwagen, easily recognized by the conspicuous frame antenna above the hull.
The Sd.Kfz.232 (6-Rad) was a schwerer Panzerspähwagen, that is a heavy armored reconnaissance vehicle built on the modified chassis of an ordinary three-axle (six-wheel) truck. The 232 version was fitted with a powerful radio set and the characteristic large frame antenna (Rahmenantenne), thanks to which it could pass reports back to headquarters from the front of an advance. The vehicle carried a turret with a 2 cm automatic gun and a machine gun. It was used in the prewar years and at the start of the Second World War, in Spain, in Poland and in France; later it was replaced in the heavy reconnaissance role by more modern eight-wheel vehicles.
First finish the chassis, the wheels and the visible interior parts, and only then close up the hull and fit the turret. Assemble the frame antenna carefully and glue it on at the very end, so that it is not damaged during handling. Glue the plastic with thin cement for polystyrene and clean up the parting lines. Spray a primer before painting. Early German vehicles usually wore gray panzergrau, although other schemes appeared on prewar machines and on those used in Spain. Build up the weathering with a wash in the engraved lines, a dry brush on the edges and pigments for dust and mud on the wheels and the suspension.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
