A less usual Continental off-road tire pattern for models of the Sd.Kfz. 250 built from Takom kits, 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Wehrmacht's small armored half-track existed in a whole range of purpose-built renderings. The basic version carried an infantry squad, others carried a mortar, an anti-tank gun, a radio set with a large frame antenna or a searchlight, and from 1943 a simplified hull with fewer angled faces, which was quicker to weld, was added to all of them. It is just this variety that makes the vehicle a rewarding subject for modelers, because from one basis a range of completely different machines can be built.
The variety did not concern only the bodies, however. The tires on the vehicles changed according to what was available, and alongside the most widespread design there existed patterns that today you will come across in photographs only occasionally. This set brings one of those less usual Continental off-road treads and is shaped to match the Takom kit. For building to a particular subject it is exactly the kind of part that moves a model from the general to the specific.
If you are building one of the later versions with the simplified hull, check in photographs what tread your machine had, because it really did differ from vehicle to vehicle. In color it pays to leave the rubber a shade lighter than the armor, so that the two materials separate visually and the wheel does not merge with the fender.
