Injection-molded plastic kit of the German Panther Ausf.G (Sd.Kfz.171) medium tank in 1:35 scale from Meng. The box offers a build of the early Ausf.G version as well as the later variant with the so-called anti-aircraft armor (mesh screens over the hull and the turret). Injection-molded plastic sprues, photo-etched parts and decals for German vehicles are included.
The Panther was among the most successful German tanks of World War II. It combined a powerful long-barreled 75 mm gun with good mobility and effective sloped armor. The Ausf.G version was the last main production variant: it brought a simplified and more resistant hull with reworked sides and a series of manufacturing simplifications that made mass production easier at the end of the war. The Panthers deployed on the Eastern and the Western Front alike were a feared opponent for the Allies.
On the Panther, assemble and paint the running gear with its interleaved road wheels and the lower hull before you close it with the superstructure. Remove the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with a thin liquid plastic cement, and the fine photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Apply a primer before painting and spray the three-color camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats. Accentuate the engraved detail with a panel wash, bring out the edges with drybrushing and apply mud and dust pigments to the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
