An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy tank Sd.Kfz.182 King Tiger (Tiger II, Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. B) in 1:35 scale from Rye Field Model. Models of this tank from RFM are among the finely worked kits; depending on the particular release they may contain a full interior, photo-etched parts, individual workable track links or a metal gun barrel. Check the exact contents and the turret variant (usually Henschel) against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The King Tiger, in German Königstiger, was the heaviest German tank deployed in series in the Second World War. It weighed around 68 to 70 tons, carried steeply sloped armor and, as its main armament, the long 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 gun, which could destroy practically any Allied tank at long range. It was built from 1944 and the Henschel turret predominated. Despite its massive firepower and protection it was limited by its great weight, its fuel consumption and the unreliability of its drivetrain.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with a liquid modeling cement for plastic; bond the photo-etched and metal parts with super glue. Assemble and paint the tracked running gear, the road wheels and any interior before closing the hull and the turret up. Apply a primer, cover with an airbrush and choose late-war camouflage. Bring out the panel lines with a wash and add mud and dust pigments on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
