It replaces the parts that cannot be molded in plastic at the right thickness: grilles, clamps, hinges, sheet metal flanges and small fittings of the fighting compartment. The Sd.Kfz.250 was a German light half-track armored personnel carrier of the Second World War, a vehicle with wheels on the front axle, tracked running gear at the rear and an open armored hull. It was produced in a whole range of purpose-built conversions distinguished by the number after the slash. The version designated 250/9 carried a rotating turret with a 2 cm automatic cannon and was intended for reconnaissance; with that armament it essentially took over the role of the light wheeled armored cars in terrain those could no longer negotiate. The open hull and the well-detailed turret mean that many internal surfaces and small details are visible on a finished model.
Separate the etched parts with a scalpel on a hard surface rather than snapping them out. Bend longer flanges in a bending tool gradually, section by section, so that the bend comes out straight. Sand the plastic detail that the set replaces flat, otherwise the new part will not seat. Glue with super glue applied from the tip of a toothpick. Paint and weather the interior of the hull and the turret before fitting the upper parts, as you will not be able to reach inside once it is closed. Assemble and paint the running gear before fitting the fenders. Build up the final weathering with a dark wash in the recesses, dust pigments on the lower hull and a light dry brush on the edges.
This is an accessory, not a stand-alone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
