Sd.Kfz.251/21 Ausf.D Drilling is a plastic kit of the German half-track carrier with a three-barrel anti-aircraft system, in 1:35 scale from AFV Club.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit captures the German Sd.Kfz.251/21 armored half-track in its Ausf.D version with the Drilling anti-aircraft system, that is three coupled 20 mm MG 151/20 cannons. The 1:35 scale model from AFV Club holds a photo-etched fret, decals and metal parts besides the plastic parts.
The Sd.Kfz.251 was the most widespread German half-track carrier of the Second World War, produced in a whole range of specialized versions. The 251/21 version carried an anti-aircraft gun mount with three rapid-firing 20 mm cannons on the hull, hence the nickname Drilling, meaning triplet. It was meant to defend against low-flying aircraft and to fire at ground targets as well.
The open hull and the gun mount call for careful alignment; glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Join the plastic with liquid modeling cement, treat the surface with a primer and spray the shades with an airbrush. Bring out the hull interior and the multi-barrel mount with washes and pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
