Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter capturing the Soviet RF-8 aerosan (GAZ-98) – a motor sleigh driven by an aircraft propeller. The small kit holds parts on several sprues, clear and photo-etched parts and two figures as well. The model builds a light hull on skis with a pusher propeller at the back.
An aerosan is a motor sleigh that moves over snow and ice not on wheels or tracks but driven by an aircraft propeller; instead of a chassis it has skis. The RF-8 type was created in Gorky and entered Red Army service at the beginning of 1942. It was powered by a cheap GAZ M-1 automobile engine and on frozen rivers and in deep snow it reached speeds of up to about 50 km/h. It served mainly for transport, communications and reconnaissance in snow-covered terrain.
Assemble the hull and the skis carefully so that the model stands straight; glue the propeller on at the very end so that it is not damaged during the build. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic and adhesive for clear parts on the clear parts. Winter finishes were usually white or light gray – spray the surface with a primer and lay the paint down with an airbrush. Suggest chipping, ice and sprayed snow with a drybrush, washes and pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
