An injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet BMP-1P infantry fighting vehicle in 1:35 scale from the Trumpeter brand. This is the upgraded P version of the classic BMP-1 vehicle, which differs from the basic form above all in its changed anti-tank armament and in additional turret equipment. The set holds a detailed running gear, the hull and the turret with its characteristic low-pressure gun.
The BMP-1 was the first Soviet tracked amphibious infantry fighting vehicle and in its day a ground-breaking design that joined firepower, mobility and the carrying of an infantry squad. The turret carries a 73 mm low-pressure 2A28 Grom gun and a coaxial machine gun. The BMP-1P version replaced the older anti-tank missile with a launcher rail for more modern guided missiles of the Konkurs type, and it usually also has smoke grenade launchers. The vehicle swims, propelled by its tracks, and it was widespread in the armies of a whole range of countries.
Build a military vehicle with the assembly order in mind: finish and paint the running gear and the interior before you close the hull up. Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic, and the small and etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Lay down a primer before painting and work with an airbrush. Soviet green comes to life if you shade the panels, washes bring out the details and pigments allow convincing mud and dust effects on the tracks and the lower hull.
