1:35 Soviet Tankman Commander WW2 Recommended for T-60

Soviet tank commander, 1:35 scale, Evolution Miniatures

A resin figure in 1:35 scale showing a Soviet tank commander from the period of the Second World War. The manufacturer recommends it for models of the T-60 light tank, but in its conception it suits other Soviet armored vehicles with an open turret hatch as well. The casting of gray modeling resin is supplied unpainted, unassembled and with casting blocks.

The real subject

The T-60 was a Soviet light tank from the beginning of the 1940s with a crew of two, consisting of the driver and the commander, who also operated the weapon, that is a 20 mm automatic cannon. That is exactly why a commander figure is crucial on this type, because in the open hatch it forms the only visible human element of the model. The equipment of the tank crewman includes a soft tanker helmet with earphones, overalls and leather accessories.

Building and painting tips

First wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap because of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw, sand the surfaces wet and use respiratory protection. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Before you attach the figure, check dry how high it stands out of the hatch and shorten it underneath if necessary. After primer, paint the overalls in a muted shade, bring out the helmet with a wash and a dry brush, and build the face up in layers from a mid skin tone to the light places. A matte clear coat at the end will even the surface out and the figure will look natural on the model.
