Hauler 1:35 Soviet vehicle tools is a photo-etched accessory set for a kit of Soviet equipment you have already bought, not a model in its own right. It replaces coarsely molded clamps and holders for pioneer tools with fine brass parts.

The photo-etched set from the Czech maker Hauler in 1:35 scale serves to detail a plastic kit you already have part built; by itself it makes up no model. It consists of parts etched from thin brass sheet, with which the clamps, clasps and holders of vehicle tools on Soviet tanks and trucks are replaced or completed. It is precisely these small things that injection into a mold cannot manage at a real thickness, so the plastic originals make an oversized impression even after painting.
Soviet combat and rear-area equipment carried pioneer tools hung directly on the armor and on the fenders - shovels, picks, axes and crowbars held by simple metal clasps and straps. Their arrangement differed according to the plant and the year of production, so a period photograph of the particular machine is always a better guide than a universal scheme. On a model these are the places the eye falls on first, because they lie on the outline of the hull.
First cut the plastic imitations of the holders away with a sharp scalpel and sand the area down lightly. Anneal the photo-etched strips briefly over a flame before bending - the brass softens and stops springing back after the bend. Bend in a bender or between two blades, and glue with super glue applied with a pin, not as a drop straight from the bottle. Before painting, degrease the parts with spirit and go over them with a primer, or the paint will not hold on the smooth brass and will peel while the part is handled. Wooden handles are well dealt with by a brown base and drybrushing, the metal parts by a dark steel color with a hint of rust and dust.
The set serves to complete a kit; it is not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
