An airbrush mask of Soviet turret numbers in 1:35 scale from 1 Man Army, in character heights of 11 to 14.5 mm.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of painting templates for spraying tactical numbers onto the turrets of Soviet machines in 1:35 scale. It is not a decal: the template is applied to the model, sprayed over with an airbrush, and the number then stays directly in the paint, with no carrier film and no glossy edge, which on a matte finish tends to be visible. According to the name the characters run from 11 to 14.5 mm in height, that is in the form for larger lettering on a turret.
Tactical numbers on the turrets of Soviet vehicles were used to tell machines apart within a unit and their form was in no way standardized. The size, the shape of the digits and the color all differed, and often the lettering was applied in the field through a stencil or freehand. That is exactly why the masks are supplied in several ranges of sizes, so that a modeler can choose according to the particular photograph or scheme being built.
Let the coat cure perfectly and degrease the surface. Place the template with tweezers, align it with the engraved lines or the edges of the turret and press the edges down thoroughly. Spray perpendicularly and weakly; several thin coats hold the shape of a character far better than one heavy one. Lift the mask off before the paint has dried completely. At the end unify the number with its surroundings using a light dust filter or a fine rubbing back of the edges, so that it does not look stuck on.
