The base 1:35 Stalingrad factory ruin base from the manufacturer Black Dog belongs among the scenic parts intended for displaying finished models. Do not look for a vehicle or figures in it; you place those on the scene from stocks of your own, while the base supplies the setting and the composition.
Industrial structures hit by the city fighting of the Second World War are among the lastingly popular subjects for dioramas. Brick masonry, steel girders and heaps of rubble create a difference in height in a model, thanks to which the silhouette of the hardware stands out. It is exactly this type of setting that is most often linked with 1:35 scale at shows, because the interior of a vehicle reads well in it too.
Before you start building the shades up, even the surface out with a thin layer of base coat; the paint will then take evenly over the whole area. Play the brick out with several close tones instead of a single red, draw the joints together with a dark wash and run a dry brush over the edges. Tune the dustiness with pigments applied dry. Try the placing of the model out dry before you glue anything.
The scene arrives without paints and without hardware; everything else remains up to you.
