The second figure of the Stalker genre pair from Black Dog. The number together with the byname Exterminator serves to let the customer see which of the figures he is getting, if he wants both in one scene.
The subject is a fantasy one and falls under no period or army classification. Thanks to that the figure can be placed in scenes where a period figure would be distracting: a collapsed industrial hall, concrete overgrown with greenery, a camp beside a wreck. In 1:35 it goes with hardware, with structural elements and with vegetation of the same scale. Because such scenes tend to be muted in color, the figure also works as a focal point: one more pronounced tone on the clothing is enough and the viewer knows where to look on the diorama first.
With genre figures the main effect is carried by the grime on the surface, not by variety of shade. After the base coat bring out the folds of the clothing with a dark filling shade, pull the edges out dry and only then reach for the pigments. Apply the dust from the bottom upward and blend it with a soft brush, so that the transition is not sharp. The heaviest deposits belong where they would really get, on the footwear, on the lower hem and into the folds behind the knees. Close the finished figure with a matte varnish, because otherwise the pigment rubs off on your fingers every time you handle it.
