The resin set imitates personal equipment and stowage as crews placed it on an armored car, that is on the fenders, at the rear and on the free faces of the superstructure. It is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model of the vehicle. A loaded car looks far more alive than a model built straight from the box, because the stowage breaks up the smooth faces of the armor, adds irregularity to the outline of the vehicle and gives the whole a clue to scale.
The Sd.Kfz. 231 is a German heavy armored car with all-wheel drive, designed for long-range reconnaissance. The Sd.Kfz. 232 version is its radio variant, recognizable above all by a large antenna above the hull. The eight-wheeled form of this vehicle is among the most striking German reconnaissance machines of the Second World War, and on long moves the crews carried supplies and personal kit on the vehicle itself, because the inside was taken up by the radio set, ammunition and the crew.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap first and let them dry thoroughly. Separate the casting blocks with a saw and finish the surface wet, with your airways protected. Use super glue, as plastic cement will not bond resin. Paint the stowage apart from the vehicle and only then put it in place, as otherwise you will not reach the undersides. Tarpaulins and fabrics come out best when the folds are lightened step by step, while leather and wood take warm brown tones and a fine lift with oils. Then unify the whole with a thinned wash and a light layer of dust.
This is an accessory to a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
