1:35 strazmistr of the Czechoslovak Gendarmerie with a fingerprint case, 1937 captures a gendarme with a forensic bag in the dress of the late 1930s.
Responsibility details are not available.
This figure in 1:35 scale depicts a gendarmerie strazmistr equipped with a fingerprint case, that is a kit for taking fingerprints at the scene of a crime. The case he carries is what sets the figure apart from the other gendarmerie figures in the range, and at the same time it offers a rewarding subject: a scene of an investigation is considerably less usual in modeling than a military one.
The year 1937 in the name refers to the late interwar dress, which differs in cut and in accessories from the appearance of the early 1920s. Forensic practice at that time rested on fingerprinting as the main method of identifying people, and members of the force with such equipment went out to cases in the field. The figure thus joins a uniform with an easily recognizable prop.
Paint the case separately from the figure, so that you can reach the seams and the handle. Brown leather looks better when you build it on two shades: a lighter one on the flat areas and a darker one at the corners and the fittings. Tie the uniform together with a glaze and leave it matte, so that the case stays the main element to the eye. The scene will benefit from simple surroundings: a stretch of field road, a roadside marker, or a period car the figure is heading for.
