A sheet of decals with universal markings and unit insignia for German Sturmgeschütz assault guns. The fifth part of the series on assault gun battalions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sturmgeschütz is the German assault gun, that is a tracked machine without a rotating turret with the gun mounted directly in the hull. Its low silhouette made it an inconspicuous weapon of infantry support and, in the later years of the war, a feared machine against tanks as well. Assault guns did not serve with the tank battalions but with battalions of their own, which also had insignia and a system of markings of their own. It is precisely in this that building an assault gun differs from building a tank, even though it is hardware of the same army.
This set is the fifth part of the series devoted to assault gun battalions and offers universal markings that are not tied to a single machine. The designs can therefore be used across builds: these are generic insignia and unit designations, not a complete set for one particular example.
These are wet decals. Trim the design off tight to the print, dip it briefly in lukewarm water and let it rest until it begins to slide over the backing paper. Varnish the area to a gloss beforehand, otherwise a white veil will be left around the design. On the coarse layer of paste coating on the armor a softener and pressure from a soft cloth help; a matte varnish then evens the finished surface out.
The sheet will be appreciated by modelers who build German assault guns and want a stock of generic markings at hand. The sheet of decals is supplied on its own; the model, the paints and the glue do not belong with it, unless stated otherwise.
