This resin detail set from PANZER ART represents the cast Saukopf gun mantlet in its short form, completed with a protective canvas. The set replaces the less detailed plastic mantlet of the StuG III assault gun and is meant for detailing a base model, not as a kit of the whole vehicle.
The StuG III was a German assault gun (the Sturmgeschutz), one of the most numerous tracked vehicles of the Wehrmacht of the Second World War. The cast Saukopf gun mantlet, named for its characteristic rounded shape, replaced the angular welded mantlet on the later versions. The short version and the canvas stretched over it match a particular form seen in the field.
Wash the mold release agent off the casting, cut off the casting block and true the mating surface up. Bond the resin with super glue, with respiratory protection while sanding. The cast surface of the mantlet and the folds of the canvas come out once they are painted, lightened with a dry brush and picked out with a wash.
