A resin detail part in 1:35 scale from PANZER ART. It represents the cast round gun mantlet nicknamed the Saukopf, the pig's head, for the late StuG III and StuG IV assault guns, with a suggested canvas cover added. It is a replacement detail part, not a model of the whole vehicle.
The Saukopf mantlet was a cast, roundly shaped protection for the gun used on the later StuG III and StuG IV assault guns. Its rounded shape deflected hits better than the earlier angular mantlet. Canvas covers were pulled over the mantlet in the field to protect the mechanism.
Wash the resin part free of release agent, cut off the casting block and put it in place of the original plastic mantlet. It is glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The cast texture and the texture of the canvas come out after a primer and weathering with washes, filters and pigments.
This is an accessory part, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
