Self-adhesive masks for painting a model of the T-80B tank in 1:35 scale. It is neither a kit nor a set of parts, but an accessory that serves one single, if tedious, operation: separating the rubber tire band of a road wheel from the wheel disc. Instead of running rings around with a brush, you lay a mask on and spray the edge.
What you gain by it
The T-80 has six road wheels on each side, so by hand that means twelve tire bands on which the line has to be equally wide and straight. The mask does it for you and the result looks the same on the first wheel as on the last. Paint the wheels while they are loose, because once they are on the hull you will reach them only with difficulty.
The T-80 was a Soviet main battle tank that differed from the other vehicles of its generation in its gas turbine power pack. The B version brought changes to the turret, the armament and the protection. The running gear rests on six dished wheels with a rubber tire band on each side, which is the most repeated piece of work on the whole model when it comes to painting.
Spray the wheel with the dark color of the rubber and let it dry. Then lay the mask on the tire band, press it down around the edge with a soft wooden stick and apply the base shade of the vehicle over it. Spray straight on, in thin coats; one heavy coat gets under the edge. Once it is dry to the touch, take the masks off with tweezers. Small shortcomings will then be hidden by the dust and mud weathering that this kind of vehicle almost always has anyway.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The model and the paints are not included in the package.
