The first part of the Bosnian Star Decals line in 1:35 scale is aimed at T-55 tanks in ARBiH service. The set belongs to the group of markings for the conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first half of the 1990s, that is for a period for which the modeling market long had almost no material at all.
The T-55 is a Soviet medium tank with a cast turret of hemispherical shape and a 100 mm gun. It was built for decades and under license outside the Soviet Union as well, among other places in the Yugoslavia of the time, so it was present in the Balkans in large numbers and after the state broke up it ended up in the hands of the newly formed armed forces. The machines tended to be modified according to the means of the individual units, fitted with improvised armor and re-marked.
The cast turret of the T-55 has a markedly rough surface texture and markings hold on it only with the help of a decal softener and patient pressing with a soft brush. Period markings on these machines were often laid on by hand through a stencil, so flatten the decal down once it has dried and let its edges blend slightly into the base, so that it does not look too regular. Only then add dust and deposits from the terrain. Go through the manufacturer's instructions on handling in advance.
