The third part of the Bosnian Star Decals line in 1:35 scale is aimed at T-55 tanks in the service of the HVO, the Croatian Defence Council. Together with the other parts of the line it covers hardware that various sides used on one battlefield, and it offers modelers material for a comparative build.
In the Balkans in the 1990s the same types of hardware found their way into the hands of the most varied armed formations, because they came out of shared depots. The T-55 tank with its 100 mm gun and cast turret is an example: the same machine served several sides and it can be told apart practically only by the markings, the fittings and the improvised modifications. For a modeler that means the difference between two builds stands or falls on the decals, not on a kit part.
If you are building two machines of the same type set apart only by their markings, run both builds side by side. Mix the base coat for both models at once, lay the gloss interlayer on at the same thickness and flatten both finished models down on the same day, so that the surface looks identical and the difference shows only in the markings. Seat the decals on the cast turret with a softener; on the flat areas of the hull a smaller amount will do. Follow the instructions from the maker of the set as you go.
