An armament set for the OH-58D, 1:35 scale

An accessory set for a model of the armed scout helicopter OH-58D in 1:35 scale. What it holds is the armament the machine carried on the racks at the sides of the fuselage. The specific list of parts is given by the manufacturer in the instructions.

The real subject

The OH-58D is a light scout helicopter of the American army, recognizable at first glance by the spherical sight seated above the head of the main rotor. It was precisely that which let it observe its surroundings from cover, with the mast projecting above the terrain while the rest of the machine stayed hidden. The machine stands on skids and carries its armament on short racks at the sides of the fuselage, so it is clearly visible on a model and decides its appearance more than it would on larger helicopters.

What the set solves

In a basic kit the weapons tend to be only suggested, and their shapes are already large enough in this scale for the simplification to show. A separate set makes it possible to equip the model further and to prepare it in one particular form.

Building tips

• Dry-fit the parts and compare them with the racks on the model before you reach for the glue.
• Cut the surplus material and the traces of manufacture off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the surface.
• Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and degrease them.
• The gluing procedure and the recommended glue for this set are given by the manufacturer in the instructions.
• Check the symmetry of the mounting on both sides at once, because a weapon seated askew shows immediately.

The set is an accessory for a kit. The model, paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
