The loader's hatch of the Tiger tank in the welded rendition, 1:35 scale from PANZER ART. A single part for the turret roof, and a model of the tank is not contained in the package.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small but conspicuous accessory for builders of the German heavy tank. This item corresponds to the loader's hatch in the welded rendition, that is, the older of the two ways in which the hatch was produced. Neither the vehicle nor further parts of the turret are in the package.
Besides the commander's cupola, the roof of the Tiger's turret had one more entrance: the hatch for the loader. It served for getting into the vehicle as well as for replenishing ammunition, and when driving out of combat it was often left flipped open, so that the space around the breech of the gun could be aired. As the war went on, production was simplified, so machines of the individual batches differ even in such a trifle. The welded rendition came about by assembly from several pieces and it carries traces of that on its surface; the younger stamped hatch is smoother and without seams.
Before you reach for the glue, verify from a photograph of your own machine which type of hatch it had. Otherwise a combination arises on the model that never existed on the subject. The hatch can be seated open as well, but then there will be a view into the turret and the interior around the opening will need to be completed. The inner side of the hatch tended to be lighter than the outside, which is an easy way of giving a model depth, and the vicinity of the hinges was worn down to bare metal.
