Plastic kit of the modern Japanese Type 10 main battle tank in 1:35 scale from Tamiya. The Type 10 is the newest tank of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF). The kit captures this present-day machine accurately and offers rubber side skirts on the lower hull, band tracks, modular armor elements and detail on the 120 mm gun. Two figures and three marking options are included.
The Type 10 is a modern Japanese main battle tank, first shown publicly in 2010 (hence the number in its designation) and issued to units from 2012. It carries a Japanese 120 mm smoothbore gun and an advanced C4I information system that links tanks into a network and lets them share data for coordinated combat. Characteristic features are the hydropneumatic suspension, with which the tank changes the trim and ground clearance of the hull, and modular armor that can be adapted to the threat. Compared with the earlier Type 90 it is lighter and more mobile.
The band (rubber) tracks make building the running gear easier and quicker; even so, it is best to paint the running gear and the tracks before the hull is closed. Work with liquid cement for plastic and an airbrush; the usual finish is the present-day two-tone JGSDF camouflage (brown and green). Bring out the detail with a wash; on a modern machine choose restrained dust and fine pigments on the running gear rather than heavy mud effects. The crew figures supplied will bring the final scene to life.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
