The Quinta Studio set brings a colored interior of the UAZ-452 vehicle printed on decal paper. It is not a resin or photo-etched accessory: a thin layer with a relief is transferred onto the plastic by soaking in water, and once dry it looks like a painted and shaded surface. That gives the model a legible dashboard and the texture of the inner surfaces without your having to paint tiny dials with a brush or take on photo-etched metal. The set is intended for the Zvezda kit.
The UAZ-452 is an off-road vehicle with the cab over the front axle and with drive to all wheels, built as a universal carrier in civilian as well as uniformed service. The cab is deliberately simple and functional, with a large area of dashboard and uncovered elements, so there is nowhere on the model to hide detail. The vehicle is often brought into dioramas, where the doors tend to be open and the interior lies directly in the line of sight.
Before the transfer, level the plastic surfaces and rid them of grease; the slightest unevenness will show through the thin layer. Soak the segment in lukewarm water, move it into place with a brush and draw the excess water off. A decal softener and a setting solution do not belong on the printed layer, as their chemistry would attack it and ruin the element. Instead, settle the layer down with a soft brush, let it go touch-dry and repeat the step if need be. On sharp edges a cotton bud and light pressure will help while the layer is still damp after soaking. Let the interior dry until the next day and even the surface out with matte varnish.
It is a modeling accessory, not a kit. The basic model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
