A set of decals in 1:35 scale from Star Decals. According to the name it is tied to the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine and is cut for two particular types of equipment: the BRDM-2 armored reconnaissance car and the 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer. The markings cover the equipment of both sides, as the name of the set states.
The BRDM-2 is a four-wheeled amphibious reconnaissance armored car with a small rotating turret and with add-on retractable wheels under the hull, which improve its passage through terrain. It came about in the 1960s and spread to dozens of armies. The 2S1 Gvozdika is a 122 mm self-propelled howitzer on a tracked amphibious chassis with an enclosed rotating turret; it serves for artillery support from covered firing positions. Both vehicles occur in the equipment of a number of states to this day and attract modelers precisely by how long a service they have behind them.
Tactical insignia on modern equipment tend to be applied in the field, that is irregularly and without sharp edges. It therefore pays to subdue a decal lightly with a thin layer of matte varnish once it has dried and to go over it with a soft pencil or a pigment, so that it loses its printed perfection. Grant the wheels and the underside of the hull a more pronounced dust; on the self-propelled howitzer do not forget the residue around the muzzle and the wear in the places where the crew climbs out.
