A plastic kit of the British light tracked Universal Carrier Mk.II in 1:35 scale by Tamiya. The universal carrier, popularly called the Bren Gun Carrier, was a small fully tracked open vehicle. The kit faithfully reproduces the open interior with its seats and radio set and adds weapons — a Bren machine gun, Enfield rifles and a PIAT anti-tank weapon — together with accessories and ammunition boxes. Soldier figures are included as well.
The Universal Carrier was the most widespread of the family of British carriers; the Mk.II version was the largest-produced variant. These small, fast and low vehicles served to carry sections, machine guns and ammunition and for reconnaissance on all fronts of the Second World War. Thanks to their low silhouette and mobility they became one of the most typical British vehicles of the period.
The open interior is worth painting and weathering before the build is finished; the figures come alive with well-drawn uniforms and faces. The model looks good in British khaki green with a wash in the recesses and dust pigments on the running gear. Paint the small weapons separately.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
