Airborne troops could not afford heavy cars, so the American army gave them light motor scooters that fitted into the cargo space of an aircraft and under a parachute as well. This set from Plusmodel adds a reel to it, that is a drum with cable. A signaler on a scooter could lay a telephone line faster than a party of men would drag it on foot.
Scooters were used for running messages between posts, for delivering reports and for small-scale transport. They were low, light and easy to weave with between ruins. The drum placed at the back made it possible to pay cable out on the move, which in the first hours after a drop, when the signals network was only being built, was priceless.
Put the frame and the wheels together so that the machine rests on both wheels at the same time, otherwise it will optically fall over in a scene. Wrap the drum with thin wire or thread if you want to suggest wound cable. Bring the olive base to life by lightening the upper surfaces and, on the contrary, darkening the places under the saddle. The grips and the pedals will take a glossier shade. The saddle and the fenders deserve a smoother surface than the frame, because it is on them that a highlight tells the most.
The scooter is supplied as an unassembled kit without a coat of paint. Glue and coatings are not included, unless stated otherwise.
